Marcy, Pierre Currie died when a beer dray (wagon), knocked him down in the street. "...and the brains of the most brilliant man in France were strewn across the road". Marie Currie got her first Nobel prize because Pierre said he would refuse it unless Marie also received it with him. Marie Currie did die of cancer, almost definitely due to her handling Radium. Curiously, she was older than many other female scientists: Emy Noether, Franklin (x-ray crystallography of genetic material), and Aida Lovelace,(computer s) all died at a young age. These are four of the greatest female scientists of the 18th, 19th century.
