Salamander belongs to the class:

they are smart, and if you try to destroy their home will come out and give you a stern, disapproving looking-at. (they are psychic and this is them telling us to "Stop. We live here.")

Amphibians live in water & on land equally- most lizards are land based. Fyi: Japan has a meter long salamander..

Guillermo, in times past, salamanders were thought to be creatures of flame which lived in water to be doused. So flame cookers are 'salamanders'.

In my country you can meet them in most of the mountains. They like to come out of the roads and pats after raining... I don't know why.

The explanation suggests they are amphibious lizards.
