The description you give of the ideas of Karl Marx give little idea of the system of Communism in the Soviet Union as we knew it. We knew of repression of the people, the lack of freedom and rights, the cruelty of their leaders, etc. etc. It was all very frightening. Also, even though they are now free of Communism, they don't seem much better off with their so-called system of rights, including voting for their choice of Leader, which it seems must be for Putin - or else!!
