Sounds like a good way to get food poisoning, not for me, I don't like my beef to "moo" as I put my fork in it...

The legend is that the Tartars used to place raw meat under the saddle on their horses. The pounding that it got during a day’s riding would absolutely tenderise it ready for eating .
As I say: a legend

Tina M., I’ve always heard you had to cook meat until a certain temperature so you don’t get sick and now I learn people are eating RAW meat??
No thank you especially since I really don’t eat meat anymore and I am glad because if I thought of that while eating a burger I probably would have thrown up.

HippieJo, that was not tartare. That is carpaccio.

The type I have had is not minced beef. It is highest quality thinly sliced and is wonderful!
