How is steak tartare served?

Sounds like a good way to get food poisoning, not for me, I don't like my beef to "moo" as I put my fork in it...

Chris, Mr Bean is so funny. That scene reminded me of I Love Lucy she was in a French cafe in Paris and ordered escargot (snails). She picked up one on her fork and said "I think your American cousin was eating my geranium plant". She was trying to try them so she asked the waiter for a bottle of ketchup causing the chef to come out of the kitchen yelling in French about ruining his dish. Mr Bean and Lucy both talented and funny.

I had Steak Tartare in Paris, I was ill. Never again!!

The legend is that the Tartars used to place raw meat under the saddle on their horses. The pounding that it got during a day’s riding would absolutely tenderise it ready for eating . As I say: a legend

Tina M., I’ve always heard you had to cook meat until a certain temperature so you don’t get sick and now I learn people are eating RAW meat?? No thank you especially since I really don’t eat meat anymore and I am glad because if I thought of that while eating a burger I probably would have thrown up.

The type I have had is not minced beef. It is highest quality thinly sliced and is wonderful!
