alexandra, no you get itchy from the dust mites, microscopic arachnids, that feed on the dead cells and also crawl all over your body. Their waste, poo, is what makes you itchy. And moreso the plant pollen that your immune system sees as antigens and produces an allergic reaction.

In a place where there is less air pollution ok. My mom complains she has to mop the house every day because dust from air outside settles inside. This is in Nepal btw.
