What is conniption?

I never imagined that was a real word. I always thought it was a slang term. Live and learn

Some special Child have that attitude Conniption also some late bloomers child too

Hence the term "don't throw a conniption" that was used in the 60's & 70's". I don't think I've heard it used since that time, maybe into 80's?
