Which body part is removed in a glossectomy?
Correct answer: Tongue

K9Queen
My husband had to have 1/3 of his tongue removed because of squamous cell carcinoma. Thankfully, he has adapted very well and for people that didn't know him before the surgery, they would never guess. He did have to relearn how to speak and eat. He's doing very well right now.

Cat Cha
My daughter at age 25, had oral cancer and had partial removal of her tongue. the surgeon, and hospital staff did an excellent job as she was able to speak within a few days. I was a wreck the first few days not knowing the outcome. She has had 5 years of medical exams and she is fully recovered, cancer free and is a full time mother and student in social work and considering teaching.
