What can cause tonsillitis?

Not always viral. It can be caused by a bacterial infection. Hence why you are given antibiotics.

After my daughter's 6th bout of strep throat in 5 months, she had a tonsillectomy and never had strep throat again!

Had it as a kid. I missed a lot of school. After the 3rd flare up they were yanked out.

Had my tonsils out when I was a kid. Got to eat lots of ice cream. Then I became a paranormal investigater. It has been a good life.
