Why are the steps in the picture located in Italy called the Spanish Steps?

I had totally the wrong answer in mind. I thought one of the Spanish Roman emperors built it. Hadrian or Trajan.

I climbed the Spanish Steps when my family visited Rome. The Trevi Fountain is also close by.
