Player #27258542, my wife and I both love it. Carrot and Coriander soup is a favourite (Coriander being the proper name for it and how it's known in much of the world)

Because this always comes up: whether the plant is known as coriander or cilantro is largely about Spanish influence. In most of Europe and former European colonies the leaves are coriander, and in Spain and former Spanish colonies it's cilantro. The US mostly says cilantro because it was popularized there through Mexican cuisine. Both are correct and derive from the ancient Latin "coriandrum" .

Love coriander! On a recent trip to America I’m in the supermarket thinking - they must have it here! Took a punt on cilantro because of look and smell. I was rewarded!!

That Cøunt, Ray Bumpkin, actually Cilantro is the proper name for it, although it is known as Coriander through much of the world. I love it so much I have it instead of lettuce which I'm not so keen on. Love reading your comments in this game.

That Cøunt, Ray Bumpkin, I didn't know that Coriander had another name, so the question was confusing.

I can't stand the taste or smell...if I eat Coriander without knowing it's in my food, my whole day is ruined, that smell will stay with me all day, and I won't be a happy person. Not my fault I have the OR6A2 gene to blame.

If balanced correctly, that "soap" taste that some have with Cilantro, dissipates. Our Chimichurri Steak is so well balanced that people who have that "soap" issue, do not have it with our version.

I am one of those persons for who cilantro/coriander has an incredibly unpleasant taste. I wouldn’t identify it as soap either, but rather an incredibly bitter perfume. It also will upset my digestive system - if I consume it in error. It does limit some foods I can eat, however I’ve found on my travels many chefs will create their dishes for me absent the ‘c/c’.

I love cilantro but I don't like parsley. I find it boring and tastes like grass.

Cilantro is okay if cultivated in temperate climates; tropical ones make Cilantro way too strong and so soapy taste!

Are coriander leaves & coriander seeds or powder really from the same plant? The seeds or powder are lovely as part of a curry, but the leaves!!! I read that someone once said that they taste & smell like old library books!! He knew what he was talking about!!

I once had a homemade Mexican dish years ago that had a awful soapy taste. I ate it to not offend the cook. Avoid when possible now.

I am from western Pennsylvania and never tasted cilantro until going to work in Mexico, where I married into a large family. I had to get used to cilantro. It took awhile as, to me, it had the odor of dirty socks 🧦 ‘soquete’. I would have preferred the taste of soap to dirty socks.

Kris, well Americans have hijacked the English language but that is for another time. You won't buy cilantro in Australia as it is called coriander here.

I don't think cilantro tastes soapy, nevertheless, I still don't care for it. It, and cumin are two of the very few seasonings I don't like. But chili powder and tons of crushed red pepper ???? Yum !! 🤤🤤😋😋❤️❤️🧡🧡💜💜
