Which creature is Disney's Ariel?

I have problems with Disney retelling of fairy stories as he insists on changing the endings from moral tales to trite happy ones, ruining the tales.The mermaid was in pain walking on feet and was rejected by the prince and that is the way it should behave stayed.

35 years….scary! I love the Disney cartoons but struggle when they are turned into live action films especially when the cartoon in question played a big part in mine and others childhoods.
