Where do elderberries come from?

Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries.

I have an elderberry tree--- emphasis on tree!!!--- that is over 20ft tall. NOT A BUSH

I never knew that the trees of elderberries that I have in my backyard are considered bushes.
