What or who is a patriarchal society ruled by?

I believe in an Equality Society.. regardless or race or gender.

Honest question here. How do you think Patriarchy is working out in your part of the world? I am in the United States and we can do much better in my honest opinion. The fact that women still feel unsafe around men(including family) and is more willing to be stuck in the woods with a bear is very telling of deeper issues.

Lorraine, Believe it or not, the rates of violence against women in Iran are not that different from the US. The occurrence of sexual violence is a bit higher in Iran. About 20% of American women experience rape in their lifetime. Almost 60% experience other sexual violence. Of those raped, almost 60% are raped by an intimate partner. The sleaziness of men is not bound by borders.

Laur, The American Dream is for American citizens and legal immigrants. It is not for people who have no respect for US Law, and who commit a felony by entering illegally. The American Dream is there to be earned, not stolen.

American society is predominantly a "patriarchal society" but has also veered into a society of "class"! India, and other societies, including the United States, use class status as a means of differentiating between those who wield and hold power, and those who are subservient to the powerful, also prominent and wealthy! In recent days there is a concerted move by "some" to return all Americans to the patriarchal and class status of older times!
