J, Even those in America who don't follow baseball know who Jackie Robinson is. I love the game and have followed its fascinating history from Ken Burns' outstanding docu-series to movies. What that man endured is heartbreaking, yet he played on. The racists on and off the field were cruel.. until he started breaking records. Then he was loved by all. Doesn't it figure.

Cool, but as with Jonesy in England baseball isn’t a major sport but after reading the information on him he certainly deserves a special day and the number thing is a good way to celebrate his achievements.

Organic Dude, ALL players throughout the league wear #42 on that one single day. A great way to memorialize his day.

I think this is a great way to honor players retiring the number and Robinson is well honored. But I think it is confusing when all players wear the same number maybe they could make the caps the same or wear a band on their arms.

On Jackie Robinson Day, some teams have ALL the players wear 42 for games on that day. I saw this at the Oakland Coliseum and was confused about all the players wearing the same number not understanding why at first.
