A few years before he died my mom and I took a tourist cruise around Balboa island and the tour guide showed us John Waynes house and John Wayne was outside watering his yard. He waved at us and hollard " How are y'all doing? ". It was neat that he would acknowledge us.

Dawne, just read recently that the studio wanted more macho sounding name. Both he & Bruce Wayne (batman) got the name Wayne from someone famous...a war hero maybe. Can' t find it now but it's likely online somewhere.
