How long does an American cockroach live?
Correct answer: One Year
YaYa The Brave Sorceress
I worked in the city and some of Providence RI is built over water with multiple rivers converging before moving out into the Atlantic Ocean. Cockroaches thrive in that environment. One night as I was cocktail waitress in a pub I had the occasion of surprising a couple of these creatures who had decided to run right into microwave. I slammed the oven door and determined to put an end to these creatures I turned it on for 5 minutes.
They finally became still. I thought for sure that I had sufficiently killed the two and went back to my customers. However once I opened that door the two scurried out unscathed!
Scary? It’s true and I think they would survive an atomic bomb!
penawareof
Roaches can live through pretty much anything except being smashed or bug spray.
Birdiemom
ALL COCKROACHES SHOULD DIE PREMATURELY.

I do not like them they are nasty insects and they love to come out and distract other people especially humans
co....!
Player #3240320, so true about the Borax. Had terrible infestation, professionally sprayed for a year...I think roaches like that spray! An old retired NYC fireman said they used Boric Acid crystal in the firehouse and never had a roach to live. We tried it, BOOM, three days they were gone. Have put it in every place we’ve lived since, we swear by it!

penawareof, Remember the movie "Joe's Apartment" his cockroaches had character! ! Lol

I don't like them. They carry diseases and just become juicy splash when killed.
GiGi
There was a big commercial promoting roach spray and a roach in silhouette walked across the TV screen. I was mortified! We did not have roaches and quickly went into attack mode only to discover the roach was an actor making a cameo appearance. I was tricked 2 or 3 times by this commercial. So relieved it ended but upset it triggered anxiety!

There is none in my house, my mom continually laid down boric acid behind cabinets other out of the way places, now called roach proof 99% boric, friends moved in with their belongings infested with roaches all dead within 48 hours, 55 years of not having to deal with them [ Priceless ] I continue the regime to this day.

Little Luna
Player Tystyx, cockroaches are absolutely not blind. They have extremely good vision and can see even in super low light.
Little Luna
Player Tystyx, cockroaches are most certainly NOT blind. They are able to see even in very veryow

I am undeniably horrified by these things, we live next to a nice creek and animal preserve so I see them out side sometimes, I recently read that they are in fact NOT harmless to humans, aside from carrying diseases they BITE and if one is in your bed or clothes can bite several times leaving huge wounds. No. Efing. thanks.

I don't believe they are blind. I had roaches and put out boric acid as usual. I left the lights on in the kitchen for my cats. They didn't walk through it until I turned off the lights. Then they went to be with Jesus
Memere
GiGi, I remember that ad!!!
Suzee
YaYa The Brave Sorceress, this is Suzee, Yaya the Great. Yaya means "grandmother" actually "Granny".

Hairspray works. It takes a few seconds to dry, but it closes its breathing holes right up. I find it preferable to squishing them.

Player #5602826, Killing one is not comparable to getting rid of an infestation. My cat can kill one...

I grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived with these critters. No escaping them or rats in NYC. I remember they grew pretty large. If it is unfortunate to get licked on your lips by one, most likely a blister will develop.
nan
YaYa The Brave Sorceress,
they have survived an apocalypse upon the earth, the ice age and every other age that the world has gone through in the millions of years. it's been here so yeah I think it can survive an atomic bomb. they already have.

co....!, yes boric acid works. I believe the way it works is that when they walk through it they have a tendency to clean their feet and in doing so injest the crystals which tear them up from the inside.
toe jam
l heard they're bad for asthma.

This lady had a cockroach crawl and get stuck in her ear. The first doctor didn't remove all of its legs so she had to go to 2-3 more doctors to have them all removed since they kept assuming they got it all but they were wrong. Oof.
