That's strange. I heard on the radio this morning that it is today i.e. 7th March. A quick search on the internet also supports this but the date of 23rd April also appears. It seems that the 7th March date is recognised in UK and Ireland but not sure how that can be classed as World Book Day.

BoldWaffle43034, April 23rd is also Shakespeare's birthday and the date he died. Appropriate date to celebrate books then!
