Even in Sri Lanka they wear saree, but quite different style from the Indian version. It's called "Kandian Style " saree and simply georgious.

I used to know a Pakistani family. When my friend & her two daughters dressed up for an occasion and looked lovely in their saris, they made us poor Brits look very plain even when our outfits were very nice!

Olly, If they were from Pakistan did they not wear the (Muslim) Shalwar Khameez, rather than the Indian (Hindu) Sari/Saree ? There is a huge difference. (The Shalwar Khameez is a decorated tunic, almost to the knees with loose silken trousers underneath.)
