The Renaissance period came after which period of time?

They are called the Dark Ages for a very good reason. Science and studying/learning was overrun by religion. Intelligent people were considered misguided at least, evil at worst by early Church fathers. Sadly we are seeing this attitude resurfacing in the US, attacking "elites." We'd all be in the gulag for being smart and playing this ;) gm
