Like Schindler, this man's story should be told. Both were men who above all, wanted to preserve humanity for the greater good of mankind for all.

Why have I not heard of him until now? Some times I think I am living under a rock. Great info.

Canadagirl, Winton never publicly talked about his heroism. even to his own family. It came to light when his wife was cleaning out the attic and found the records of who he saved.

tanker2933,
That makes him a true saint in my book. Good deeds done with no thought of reward or fame.

As others have mentioned, there is a touching video on YouTube taken from a documentary in which children that he saved and their families are present around him without his knowledge. When it’s revealed to him, have some tissue on hand.

Absolute Hero. Recall seeing his visit to Prague on TV and watching how the families he helped save have the children look at him in so much awe. Some were so overwhelmed they simply poured kisses all over him. Great man.
