I served with The United Nations in this conflict as well, just 5 years after serving in WW2. I was shot twice in WW2, once in the arm (right near my heart) and once in my stomach (the bullet struck my water canister first and didn't penetrate my flesh). I was one of the lucky ones.

There are some inaccuracies in the question. The main one being that technically the war has never officially ended as a formal peace treaty was never signed only a cease fire.

My husband was in the Korean War. They eventually got a medal. He was taken prisoner of war. He was one of the lucky ones to come out of it.
