adams101313, I lived in Paleo Faliron in the early 70’s teaching English to Greek children. I had met my sister/soul mate at St.Martins School of Art. That was the beginning of a lifelong friendship not just with her, but with Greece. I went to night school to learn to speak Greek and that as they say was that! My husband felt the same way even though he’d never been there. Unfortunately ill health has prevented me from going back, as we were there every summer. Wonderful memories!

I'm a quarter Greek (3/4 German) and when I was 16, my very Greek paternal grandfather died, and my father took me to the "old country" that was outside Athens, in the foothills where my grandfather grew up. I met relatives three-way a beautiful country! My brave grandpa came here to the states at 17 not speaking a lick of English. He opened a restaurant (no surprise there) and became very success

It’s a beautiful place. I wish someone would rebuild the Acropolis though. It’s so sad to see Athena’s temple broken.
