I love all nuts (except Brazil Nuts) but if a recipe calls for walnuts I always substitute pecans. It's a great favorite of mine!

When we lived in Texas there were so many pecan trees on the streets of our neighborhood that the residents would shovel them up and put them out for the garbage. Now, living in Pennsylvania, whenever I see pricy pecans in the grocery stores, I recall San Antonio.

Regional pronunciation differences are fun. To me, it's a peKAN. When worked in a restaurant elsewhere, I had to learn that a "PEEkin" was a pecan bun.
