What is a fiberscope used for?
Correct answer: Examining otherwise inaccessible areas

Ken
this device saved my life. with it. dr.s found large masses blocking my bronchial tubes 90%, and they were able to make a fast decision to put stents in to open my airway until we decided where to go next

Ken,
about fibrescopes, they have many names
A scope that goes through your mouth into a bronchus is called a "Bronchoscope".
into your stomach, an "endoscope".
Through your skin into your abdomen, below your ribs, a "Laparoscope".
Into a joint a joint "Arthroscope".
I am happy your life was saved by this device.
Remember it is only as effective as the doctor who uses it.

This answer is not entirely correct. I used a fiberscope for many years and not for the purposes mentioned here. We used it when we spliced fibers together. The scopes were used to inspect the ends of the fiber for minute pieces of dust. They were easily accessible but too small to see with the naked eye.
