Bluemoon7, Now they rent them out to foreign zoos, at fabulous cost. For China they are nothing but a marketable asset. Also they try to impress with their "kindness" to pandas, to distract from practices such as butchering Pangolins at a restaurant's dinner tables, so the customers know they are eating only 100% Pangolin meat., And then there is dropping live kittens in boiling water then pulling them out only to skin them alive. That method makes it easier to remove the whole of the tiny little skin easily without waste. (_Please_ never buy small furry items from China - even if it says Rabbit, or even Artificial fur it is more likely kitten.)

Humanity encroaching on wildlife is near impossible to avoid. Humanity halting the extinction of wildlife by doing whatever is necessary is commendable if it actually also benefits the animals in various ways. But sad to say, someday, most wild animals will need saving from humanity.
