It has always been called Denali by Alaskans(never Mt. McKinley). The Athabaskan Native Americans from the Interior of Alaska called it that, and those of us who are lucky enough to live here in Alaska call it that. Denali means “the great one”.

Was stationed at Eielson AFB 2002-2005 and was ATC. On a perfect weather day, you could see Denali from the tower cab. Was my favorite assignment.

I love mountains. I have seen the great Denali. But I love to hike my “green” mountains, The Great Smoky mountains. Amazing hikes for slmost every level of hiker. Beautiful flora and fauna.

Wrong answer. The highest mountain in the US and world is Mauna Kea, when measured from the base to the summit. More than twice the height of Everest.
