I learned this years ago on "Friends". As part of a job interview, Monica, an aspiring chef, offered her perspective employer an amuse bouche as her first offering. Unfortunately, he had smoked a joint on the way to the interview and had the munchies, so the amuse bouche
whet his appetite so much that he couldn't wait the eight minutes for the next course, and started eating gummy bears instead! Hilarious.... and, as it turned out, educational, cos I never forgot this term!
