I've found it's mostly American households that almost always keep their shoes on. At least thats what I noticed when living there. In Canada, most of us always remove our footwear before entering our own, or someone else's, home

I have flat feet and walking bare foot, or in shoes without arch support, is what gave me plantars fasciitis. Now I can never walk bare foot again, unless I want to be in serious pain.
