Anyone who takes this for granted has never lost this ability. For someone with MS grabbing something without looking makes us look drunk or clumsy. Be grateful you have this ability and take it for granted 🙏

No, that’s wrong!! It’s how the brain realizes our whole body 3D orientation ! Not just the limbs!

This includes more than our limbs. It also includes where we are in relation to other things, how fast we are moving, in what position are body is in and a vast array of other things not covered. The explanation given indicates an awareness of where our limbs are in space. Were that the case why did you include our face?

FlyingWeasel81661, sorry...see also: Phantom pain is pain that feels like it's coming from a body part that's no longer there. Doctors once believed this post-amputation phenomenon was a psychological problem, but experts now recognize that these real sensations originate in the spinal cord and brain. source: mayoclinic.org

after a 40' fall in 1989 I lost this ability from the chest down... you never know how important it is until you loose it... eventually the spinal cord and brain adapt and mine still are after 30 years... never take simple things like this for granted, thanks for the game and knowledge... I never knew the correct term.... t-bo

MaxTheAxe, "your body carries around a detailed awareness of where your body parts are at all times" it says it in the description so they aren't wrong

Anyone else ever experience feeling like your limbs aren't where you know they are? or that your body is really expansive? It happens for me occasionally, when I'm trying to sleep when I'm overtired. I've also read that it's more common in people who get migraines.

I learned that here the last time I saw the same question. Many questions are repeated here. Minor criticism.

There are four types of proprioception: the senses of position and movement of our limbs and trunk, the sense of effort, the sense of force and sense of heaviness.

GeGe, I’m sure you’ve already been told this, but tens machines are helpful.(I also have phantom pains, but over the years this has eased them quite considerably.DONT know if this is medically correct, but it seems like Its like it retrained the brain to a different sensation)

OnzeWereld, My 54 yr old son lost a leg to osteogenic sarcoma when he was 8. The docs told him that phantom pain would stop after a while but he still has it 46 years later. It isn't as often as it used to be but is still irritating. It definitely isn't psychological. I honestly hadn't looked to see what the latest thoughts were but originating in the spinal cord & brain sounds logical.

When the original game "Mirror's Edge" came out, I remember reports of it causing nausea by messing up people's sense of proprioception, what with it being a first person parkour game where you could see your arms and legs onscreen.

FlyingWeasel81661, Me too, I like that I keep learning! So is this related to kissing your “Honey’s” mouth in complete darkness. I was gone for awhile but I am back. This just older youth is in love with this game. It gives me warm fuzzies all over knowing I am not as dumb as I look. I learn from the comments and those mind games are great too. Hats off to the developers. Thank You!
