shellawk, EXCUSE ME?!? Millions upon millions of American women have been degraded, demeaned, and humiliated, first by the sleazy act of rape, then again in American courtrooms: Why were you out after dark, Ms. Brave Enough to File Charges? What were you wearing? Just how many men HAVE you had sex with? An absolute travesty that destroyed these women all over again. If you are accused of rape, don't look to me for sympathy. Robinlyne, "Burden of Proof" is the standard in the US Criminal Justice System that demands the Prosecution prove the guilt of the defendant "beyond a reasonable doubt." It's actually a very popular idea, especially among the falsely accused. It is there to protect us from false prosecution. You could say that the Onus of Burden of Proof is borne by the Prosecutor.
