In which country is the city of Jerash located?

I was privileged to visit Jerash in my late teens when my parents and brothers lived in Jordan. Cobbled streets, curbing...with built-in street lights (oil lamps carved in the stone every few feet)...an amphitheater where one can hear a normal speaking voice in the top row and a truly beautiful mosaic. A friend and I visited on separate occasions. She, waxing poetic, said, "Couldn't you just hear the columns whispering?" "Sure", I replied. "What did they say to you?" "How should I know?" she snapped back. "They were speaking Latin!" 😁
