Globular Martian
Yuck! Definitely not something I would eat. I don't mind unfertilised eggs, but not one with a newly formed chick inside.

Clidge
The answer left out the part about burying the eggs in the sand to incubate them. Only knew this because of my husband’s naval service in the Philippines. Yeah, he never got drunk enough to eat them.

Cait
maymay, Then why not just eat unfertilised eggs? Why deliberately fertilise and incubate the eggs to create an animal just to eat it? Unnecessary

Cookie little

I have to thank Andrew Zimmern's tv show Bizarre Foods for knowing this answer !

maymay
Rosie-knees, because many in that "part of the world" have lived through famines and starvation and war. It is hard to dismiss anything edible when you have no choices. What is amazing is how delectable these foods are, when others dismiss them! Give them a try!!
