Papri, During WW II there was an official Blackout every night in the UK. Every. window sealed behind opaque blinds, no street or car headlights ( but fortunately few cars) and if you went out with a torch it must have thick black paper with a tiny tiny circle cut out, stuck over the light. Harsh penalties for breaking the rules. Just so the German pilots couldnt find their targets.

I know I've heard of " brownouts" but does any one know the difference?

black outs occur occasionally in my town in Oregon so I know how to deal with that occurs occasionally.

results of blackout and load-shedding may be the same but the reasons may not be same. The reasons of blackout are almost mentioned in the description which are all unintentional. It may include another intentional reason that is done during a wartime as a strategy or while practising a dummy war. And also during maintenance. In contrast, load-shedding is done by the distributors intentionally as per the requirement when there is a lower production of power than to fulfill the load in any reason. Or it may be POLITICAL, which reason general people does never know

When I was 11yo I got run over during a power cut, there were no street lights, my sister and myself were nearly on other side of rd I heard a noise and saw a big black shadow. I pushed my sister out the way but he hit me, he had no headlights on so didn’t see us , but he got away with it cuz insisted they were on , even though my sister said they weren’t. Obviously the police believed him
