OzzysUndies, In the 1930s, children were taught about the 10 planets of the solar system. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Ceres, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.
The reason we don’t talk about Ceres today is the same reason we don’t talk about Pluto being a planet. Ceres is much more similar to the objects that it orbits with - other asteroids. Pluto is much more like its counterparts in the Kuiper Belt than any other planet. If we included Pluto, we’d basically just have to include hundreds of other bodies orbiting the sun. It’s just better to not include it with other planets.

SJ Zenga is a winner, The mnemonic I learned in Grade 2 in Canada for the order of the planets was, "Many Very Early Men Jumped Suddenly Upon Nails (Period)". Pluto was still a full planet back then
