Myffa, I should have added that the toy in the NY library is C.R.'s bear, the original Winnie. However, when E.H. Shepherd illustrated the books, he and M.ilne agreed that bear looked to grumpy. He therefore drew his own son's bear 'Growler' which was fat and cuddly. So the bear drawn in the books (and the films) is Growler.
Sadly, Shepherd's grand-daughter took Growler to Canada during WWII , where he was torn to shreds by a pack of dogs. No one thought to save the pieces for posssible future reconstruction.

DawnyG, The original toys of Christopher Robin (Winnie,
Piglet, Eeyeore, Kanga and Rabbit) went on a tour of USA, and were then donated to the New York Public Library. No one seems to know why, but it has been a source of grief and anger to the huge number of UK "Pooh" fans ever since!

Myffa
Player #9388224, As I explained, C.R.'s teddy had his name changed from Edward to Winnie after he saw a Canadian bear called Winnipeg in the zoo.

Myffa
zrd, No, but what do you mean home? The toys are in New York, the location of the stories is UK. However, Christopher Robin's bear was first called Edward, till he and his dad (A.A.Milne) went to a zoo, and saw a Canadian bear called Winnipeg. They then changed his teddy's name to 'Winnie'.

Bunny
Thank God for A.A.Milne, and E.H. Shepard!!! love ❤️ these stories.
