this is my second MinPin and she never had her ears clipped, which I much prefer...so cute and floppy, the breeder cut her tail way too short, I would have preferred they left that alone also. absolutely no connection to a doberman pinscher...these little, jaunty, loyal dogs have a lot of terrier in them and their job was as "ratters". Major escape artists!

Player #1863223, Why oh why do human's think it is ok to cut ears or tails just to indulge their idea of "the perfect looking dog"? We had a boxer whose ears and tail were also cut (before we got her!!)

questionableYo,man29, this is a puppy. All dogs are born with floppy ears, for breeds with upright ears, the ears usually stand as the puppy matures but it's never guaranteed. (Male puppies also take longer than girls because their energy is typically directed towards 'other' functions first.)

We are on our second min pin. They are so interactive, loving and fun and need alot of companionship. With the right owner they. are the best dog.

I had one, Mina Dracula's girlfriend. I loved her so much, She was the worst!! I was inconsolable when I had to have her euthanized. She loved me, everyone else was prey.

Montana Lady, I had a young but VERY big German Shepherd rescue puppy whose ears would not stand up as he got older. Our vet told us to feed him cottage cheese for more protein. It didn't work for his ears, but he sure got big and strong! and beautiful 😍

This could also be a young manchester. A lot of mini pins are much finer boned than the dog shown.

RockNRollMama82, I was educated to believe that they were bred from dachshunds and Italian Greyhounds back in the 1600s and Herr Doberman bred them up in the 1800s with a larger Greyhound. I dislike the tail docking as well, because it's done on day one of their life, and I love the uncropped ears as well they are extremely expressive and soft. Mine is named Maddie and she is large for her breed, at 13 and a half pounds. Her father was 6 lb at breeding, and her mother was seven lbs.

Got my first minpin when i was in my early 20's (LONG ago) and had her ears done b/c i thought it was just "what you do." Never again! She was clearly in pain. Ive never had ears or tails docked on any of my pets since then.

My daughter has the cutest mini-pin in the world. Cinder is very skittish and was terrified of me the first few times my daughter brought her over. However; time, patience and some dog treats won her over and she is much more comfortable around me now.
