Birnbrot is a pastry from which country?

This yummy dessert came from people making you something from the little they had around-just like the pizza. I had a cooking teacher in school who told us the pizza was considered at one time to be a poor person's food because it was the poor who invented it. I am Puerto Rican but I❤️pizza.
