April fools day is called so because the New Year was celebrated in April. When the Gregorian calandar was introduced this was changed to the 1st of January. Anyone still celebeating in April was called a fool.

There are references to pranks being played on April 1st in Europe from as early as the 16th century. Some even say that it comes from Chaucer's 'Canterbury Tales' in the late 14th century. Either way, it's at least 200 years before America was even founded!

On the 32 day of March (April 1) a fox uses flattery to trick a rooster into crowing with his eyes closed.
When he does, the fox grabs him but the other farm animals see it happen and give chase. So the rooster uses flattery to trick the fox into taunting the animals that are after him.
As soon as the fox opens his mouth to do so, the rooster flies into a tree & cannot be tricked again because he no longer trusts the fox.

I don't know this for a fact: People born the last week of May and the first 3 weeks of April are Aries, the Ram. Some are very intelligent but brains isn't the issue, it's gullibilty. I was born April the 8th and I tend to be impulsive, too trusting, and emotional. Sometimes I feel like a fool when I have been tricked again. (just my two cents worth)
