GrandmaTanya, I think it' sad that today's generation has no clue about LIFE. You lose the most valuable learning tool of all when you never take the blame for your own mistakes.

KILLean17, Have you seen TV lately? The Disney Channel is the worst. Showing children how to scream at their parents, sneaking out of the house, lying to parents, I could go on and on.

I have been taken advantage of so many times for believing in this rule, I started hating it. At some point I even considered not following it anymore. A chat with my mom made me reconsider. What I did instead was to stop expecting the same from others. I treat others the way I wish to be treated, and expect nothing. Spares me a lot of disappointment, let me tell you!

Predates the bible by a long way. There's also the silver rule - don't do anything to people you wouldn't want done to you which seems even more fundamental.

I raised my children with the golden rule at the core of our values. They are loving, kind, compassionate self- sufficient young adults now. I like to think the countless reminders to "remember the golden rule" played a part in who they are.

Redeemed 2001, students and school employees can take their Bibles to school. A school employee just can't lead a lesson from it or insist that students read it. NEVER allow anyone to tell you that you can't have one. My grandson, who just graduated from public school. took his New Testament with him each day, each year, and read it during free time. Though he couldn't initiate the conversation if anyone asked he could share the gospel with them.
