I think that all school kids all over the world ought to be taught at least 3 languages, one from each continent of their choice. For instance Asia, Africa and Europe.

It's said that one reason why so many continental Europeans can speak English is because they are so familiar with English-speaking films and popular songs from their youth onwards. (Perhaps that means they speak American rather than English!)

SkyEagle, im Belgian, we speak dutch, french and German. I learned English trough music, movies and games.... immigrated to Greece a few years ago and learned to speak, write and read the Greek language through subtitles. so yes some countries have the 3 language packet. I mean, at least English everybody should be bke to communicate with, right? by 1 vote (49%/51%) the English language became worldwide... luckily. though Greek has a big vocabulary ( largest word is a dish, named with 172 letters,lol) it's an easy language to learn, for almost everything is Greek ✌️

only around 25% of the world understands or speaks English. it might as well be Esperanto.

Olly, oh they do! my children speak English English and the grammar associated with it. Often used as translators and speakers.
