Not overstated at all, Steve G. Without any doubt, the moon landing (and return to Earth) represents the best scientific, engineering, social and political success in human history.

EliteLawyercat57024, The most valuable element we got from the moon landing was probably humility. It helped us understand the vastness of space, of the universe and our tiny place in it. And the famous picture of "the blue marble", our beautiful planet seen from space showed us the fragility of earth and that we are all together here as one family on our little home. In that one photograph we noticed there are no walls between the countries, it is one earth.

And let's not forget that the Apollo 11 mission was a three astronaut team--Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins.

DaveGundërsen, A great achievement yes, but the the "best" in human history? I strongly disagree, there have been many achievements in human history that are at least equal to the moon landing. Additionally many more that have done far more in advancing the human race and been more beneficial for mankind.
