IRENE, Amadeus was not a work about Mozart, that was the setting.
The story is about an artist arguing with God. This is an idea of the question:
"I am a good and hard working artist, and yet you give divine talent to this moral and frivolous reprobate... how is this fair?"
It is more generally a statement of how unjust the distribution of talent is. There is no correlation between good/bad and talent, luck, wealth.
It could be rewritten today with a footballer as the Mozart.

Salière was extremely jealous of Mozart. Couldn’t stand watching a young man compose so quickly and not needing to check, redo, erase, etcetera, as he had to do when he composed.
