being a child of the 60s I do remember the shoes but didn't know that it originated from a comic strip and since crackerjack wasn't listed as a answer I guessed right cause at first I thought it was the crackerjack mascot

When I was a child my parents bought me Buster Brown shoes. For years the company mailed me a card on my birthday. This would have been in the mid-sixties. I’ve never forgotten that. It’s why I remembered the name all my life.

Brown Shoe Company now known as Nordstrom Department Store. Great place to purchase high class shoes during semi-annual shoe sales.

A question: I know the Americans have a style of footwear called “ Mary Jane’s”. Any connection?

I grew up with Buster Brown Shoes, my brother, sister and I would start out each school year with a brand new pair, I still remember the year, I did not want a pair of Buster Browns, I wanted a pair of grown up shoes, not children's shoes. I wish they were still around and made shoes for adults, they were so comfortable and great value for the money.

Back in the 70s, Buster Brown was the brand of shoes to HAVE as a kid.
