as a hint, if something is endemic to one country it is either an island country or a very large one. Animals don't respect political boundaries. Although there are many counter examples.

there are many creatures endemic to Madagascar.

It just looks like dry curved leaves to me. Couldn't make out the creature. Madagascar is now off my bucket list, before I end up stepping on some venomous or harmful creature thinking it's just leaves or part of the dirt road!

Amazing creature! Its camouflage is epic! I'll have to look this one up for more images. I bet that red mouth against the brown body is shocking to predators.
