Who invented vulcanized rubber?

empathina, did you know that Goodyear tires setup cotton farming in the area ofGoodyear and Litchfield Park? During WWI, they were unable to get the right type of cotton that was used in their tires, because it was only grown in Egypt. Paul Litchfield, an executive at Goodyear was sent to purchase land to grow the long staple cotton that was used to reinforce their tires. Later, Mr Litchfield set up an apprenticeship program for farmers in the 1940s, where they trained them in all the latest knowledge of good farming techniques. They were each assigned a small amount of land, which they were able to buy, they got a small house built and the larger equipment was shared. Twenty two young men were chosen from across the nation. My father was one of them. I was born in Phoenix, but we lived West of Litchfield Park, a little north of Indian School Rd.

Diannnoeora, I live in Akron Ohio, on Goodyear Blvd, and deliver tires for a living, ironically, very few are Goodyear tires.
