I was told once that, since the end of WW2, there have only been 3 full days where a war hasn't been fought somewhere in the world. War is horrendous, but can you imagine what the world population would be now without them. Perhaps it's nature's way of keeping down the amount of people on earth by allowing terrible to exist.

I was born in the USSR. My grandpa was in the war. In the Soviet Union the part of WWII that was fought to free the USSR from Germany was called The Great Patriotic War. My grandpa volunteered and was wounded in of the battles at Stalingrad. Decommissioned he came back and worked on the fields to grow wheat and cotton. Passed away at the age of 98. The toughest generation I know!
