If you like this question, read Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. It is a fantastic book about what many may think is boring, a man building a church. The descriptions of the architecture are really interesting, but the characters draw you into the story you just have to find out what happens. It is a LONG book, which I prefer over long drawn out waiting for the next book in a series. I choose the 1,500+ pages over waiting for the third, fourth, or fifth book in a series which can take months or years. It is worth the read!
