People are why I have this, not open spaces. If I don't go out amongst strangers, I am safe, of course there's the off chance of someone breaking into my home, but I would have the upper hand in such a situation; the percentage rate of that is minimal.

I use to have it really bad but now as long as I am with my wife I can go to certain places. I don't think I will ever be able to do Disneyland.

This limits my life greatly. I can go to a cafe if I am with someone I trust but I can't bear to see people coming in the door so always sit with my back to it.

I had something similar to this for a few years during the menopause, so I put the symptoms down to this. Nothing like this before and nothing since.

Ditto, Klover. I developed this during the menopause, but gradually found it could be overcome by determinedly thinking of pleasant things whenever I had to go out. Was eventually very relieved when it was overcome in this way.

I have a friend that thinks she has this but i don't think she does. she just says it to make me laugh. but everytime we go somewhere that has alot of people she says I cant do this I have Agoraphobia. she seems fine in big crowds.
