Was told the soldiers exchanged (shared) food, told family stories, & sang Christmas carols as well. That was when the generals got together & moved the soldiers around, to break up the camaraderie the “enemy” soldiers forged that day.

DawnyG, You are correct. Reports are that the resistance forces (France & UK) heard German soldiers singing Christmas carols in their language. The resistance forces eventually joined in singing the same songs in their languages. White flags went up on both sides & a football game commenced. Unfortunately just for that day.
