Correct answer: Selma, Alabama

I saw a wonderful interview with Hon. John Lewis, long-time member of Congress for Georgia, and an organizer of the Pettus Bridge voter rights demonstration. David Letterman walked the bridge with Congressman Lewis and talked about the progress through sacrifice that was made that day, and days that followed. The actions, moral resolve and sacrifice of John Lewis and the others campaigning for voter rights and other civil rights make me proud to be an American, and provide me inspiration for the present and hope for our future.

I took my daughter to visit the Pettus Bridge, then drove to Montgomery so she could get an idea of how far they walked.

Birdiemom, you have got to be kidding! Delete a huge part of American history? Like the holocaust of WWII, it happened, and should never be forgotten!

Rest In Peace, John Lewis, you definitely made an impact on the Civil Rights Movement, your family, and those people who are still here. Crossing that bridge, that date made a lasting impression on many people.
